Pink Boots Society’s offers grant for women in beer industry
The Australian wing of the Pink Boots Society is continuing its mission to elevate the role of women within the beer industry with a new scheme that is offering two grants worth $5,500 each. The opportunity comes about on the back of fundraising carried out by the society over the past few years. Under the Women of Beer banner they have created a series of collaborative brews, the most recent at Young Henrys, and are now using the funds raised to offer these grants to two women currently earning an income from the Australian beer industry.
“This is an amazing opportunity for a female involved in beer to begin or extend their education, which is one of the core aims of the Pink Boots Society,” says Australian Pink Boots Society president Jayne Lewis. “We are also excited to offer an opportunity to help turn someone’s business idea into reality.
One grant will be offered to a female brewer and the other to a woman working in some other aspect of the industry, whether that be for a brewery, a venue or some other role connected with beer.
Specifications of the Pink Boots Society’s Grant
There are no specific requirements on how the grant is to be spent other than that the applicant must be able to convince the selection committee that the grant will be used to increase the knowledge of the applicant, help improve the position of women within the beer industry and make a positive contribution to the industry in Australia.
Announcement of winners
This venture is run in conjunction with the Craft Beer Industry Association. The winners of the grants will be announced on the second day of CBIA’s Craft Brewers Conference, taking place during Good Beer Week in Melbourne in May.
