Canberra’s BentSpoke Brewing announced that they are to open a second site. The new location will combine a family friendly venue and additional production facilities. This will allow them to start packaging and distributing beers hitherto only available at their brewpub in Braddon.
BentSpoke Brewing’s Development
BentSpoke was opened 18 months ago by former Wig & Pen brewer Richard Watkins and partner Tracy Margrain. Richard Watkins was twice named Champion Brewer at the Australian International Beer Awards while at Wig & Pen. He has since produced an impressive 160,000 litres of beer at the brewpub. Eventually, which has proved hugely popular since day one.
The only way to taste his wide array of beers and Tracy’s ciders was to visit the venue. Hence, have a friend who could bring you a growler. Mitchell is set to change now with the development of a site in Lysaght Street. They took possession of the keys for their second site as of today. Surprisingly, 18 months earlier than they originally planned. Embarking on phase two of the business. Richard said that packaging was always a dream for them.
The Brewing Business
This has encouraged them to set up the Mitchell facility sooner than they had anticipated. Since Canberrans enthusiastically supports locally made product. This in turn, will allow BentSpoke beer to be readily available throughout the region.
BentSpoke will soon take delivery of a canning line and more fermenters. Initially, brewing will continue to take place at the Braddon brewery. Particularly, with a new brewery expected to come online at “The Cannery” later next year.
