The greatest strength of a craft brewery is its process. After all, this is what differentiates home-grown brews from every other run-of-the-mill beer lurking on the shelves out there. Our unique brewing process incorporates rainwater along with time-honoured German techniques. Utilising custom home-made equipment, and every small, handcrafted batch blends the highest quality. Only the freshest ingredients we source from around the globe.

Thorny Devil strives to provide irresistible flavours of crafted beer. We truly believe beer is about experimenting, exploring and having fun. Thorny Devil brews beers and ciders that ignite drinker’s taste buds. Thorny Devil is available at local events and festivals.

Big Beer Bashes

Big Beer Bashes

After a successful warmup series against England this summer, the cricket season is about to step up another notch or three. No, we’re not talking about the impending T20 internationals – we have something far bigger in mind.

For their Craft Beer Rising event, the crazy kids down at The Local Taphouse St Kilda have decided to launch the inaugural Big Beer Bashes. They are putting together a team of “cricketers” drawn from their staff and regulars and have charged The Crafty Pint with putting together a team to represent the beer world – brewers, beer writers, bloggers and so on. The Local Taphouse team goes by the name Hop Hounds, while we have opted for a nod to the recently retired Sachin Tendulkar and chosen the Maestros of Malt.

Craft Beer Rising events

It takes place -€“ alongside all other Craft Beer Rising events -€“ on February 22. The Local Taphouse guys have secured a local school oval in St Kilda for the day, and also arranged to get hold of a stack of Mountain Goat Summer Ale cans to serve on the day. We also hear there will be a beery Ashes urn containing, of course, burnt hops and malt.

Other than that, the Risings continue to come, with more than 35 now registered in every state of the country. There is less than four weeks till kickoff, however, so anyone planning to register their event should jump onto the website ASAP so that we can maximise publicity for them before the big day.

Don’t forget, finally, that if you would like to display your love of Australian craft beer via the medium of your torso you can select your preferred Craft Beer Rising T-shirt via Red Bubble.
